Macklemore and Ryan Lewis keep winning as their ‘The Heist’ album officially strikes gold this week surpassing the 500,000 copies sold mark.
While ‘The Heist’ opened up to solid numbers, selling around 78,000 copies of the project its first week. Many critics didn’t think the number 2 debut would end up continuing its hot streak into the new year.
‘Thrift Shop’ is surely not a good representation of the album’s content, but it’s definitely the driving force behind the Seattle duo’s success. ‘Thrift Shop’ on its own was recently certified 5x Platinum, yeah that’s five million copies sold.
With the album officially gold just six months after its release, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are really showing the true potential of remaining independent on the music scene. Congratulations to the veteran duo.
