After taking on 50 Cent and Kanye West, Robert Poindexter has filed a lawsuit against Cash Money for the use of a Persuaders sample in Bow Wow’s 2010 track ‘Still Ballin.’ Poindexter, who wrote and produced for the Persuaders, claims that Bow Wow’s tune uses the 1970s hit ‘Love Gonna Pack Up (and Walk Out).’
Poindexter is looking to collect $600,000 as well as interest for punitive damages, according to TMZ. Poindexter decided to name both Cash Money and Bow Wow in the suit after Cash Money lawyers directed him to Bow Wow’s attorney who then sent the producer back to Cash Money.
Poindexter previously filed a lawsuit against 50 Cent for using the same track on the rapper’s ‘Redrum’ off of his free ‘War Angel LP’ mixtape. Fif promptly filed a counter-suit claiming that the Persuaders track was actually the property of Warner Music Group and he’d done nothing wrong.
Poindexter has also previously been involved in a sample dispute with Kanye West after the rapper allegedly made illegal use of ‘Trying Girls Out’ on his ‘Girls Girls Girls (Remix)’ from 2006’s ‘Freshmen Adjustment 2.’
