Despite all the controversy around him these days, Young Money’s captain Lil Wayne keeps on winning as he earns a gold plaque for his ‘Love Me’ song.
Lil Wayne has definitely been under a lot of fire as of late, but I guess that’s bound to happen when you are the biggest name on the mainstream rap scene. As the saying goes, “A dog doesn’t bark at a parked car.”
Lil Wayne’s recent Emmett Till lyrics on the Karate Chop remix were definitely uncalled for, and his continuous shots being fired at the NBA and Miami…well that just is what it is. When it comes to selling records, few do it better than Wayne.
While we could argue all day that the quality of his content has diminished over the years, his mainstream rap scene domination is still as strong as ever. Just weeks after teaming up with Drake and Future for his ‘Love Me’ track, the single reaches its first milestone. The song has sold 548,712 digital units to date making it officially certified gold.
The single is currently #18 on the charts, and with his ‘I Am Not A Human Being II’ album on the way, expect this thing to keep climbing.
