Macklemore and Ryan Lewis keep on winning officially surpassing the three million sold mark for their smash single ‘Thrift Shop.’
When Macklemore teamed up with Ryan Lewis to announce their album ‘The Heist,’ we weren’t sure if the project had enough mainstream appeal to get the commercial success that Seattle based duo deserves. That was until we heard ‘Thrift Shop.’
While the song is far from the theme on the album, it certainly had the commercial appeal to fuel sales for the independent artists. ‘The Heist’ opened up to an impressive 78,000 copies sold in the first week, and the success of ‘Thrift Shop’ seems to just be getting started.
It was only 2 weeks ago that we announced that ‘Thrift Shop’ had surpassed the two million copies sold mark, and today Macklemore and Ryan Lewis have reached triple platinum status selling a total of 3,101,000 copies. Check out the music video below.
