Quentin Tarantino has pulled in some amazing talent for the soundtrack of his upcoming film ‘Django Unchained’ including Rick Ross, John Legend and a song which features both James Brown and Tupac. The soundtrack was anticipated to include a contribution from Frank Ocean, but the singer’s name is missing from the released list.
Tarantino called in Rick Ross for the track ‘100 Black Coffins’ which is produced by the flick’s star Jamie Foxx, while John Legend contributed ‘Who Did That To You?’ to help fill out the film’s 23 track score. James Brown and Tupac are both credited on ‘Unchained (The Payback/Untouchable)’ which is likely a mash-up of Brown’s track ‘The Payback’ and the late rapper’s ‘Untouchable.’
Tarantino thanked all of the musicians for their work and added that the soundtrack is his first to include original music. “I want to thank all the artists who contributed original songs (a first for me) to the picture. Most of these contributions came out of the artists’ own inspiration and their illustration of the film’s soul is invaluable,” said Tarantino according to The Huffington Post.
Frank Ocean previously told GQ that he had written a track for the film, but the official list indicates that the Odd Future crooner may not have made the soundtrack’s final cut.
