With its hard-hitting bass, and his rapid-fire deliveries, Meek Mill’s music might not seem like it has a lot to offer from a lyrical standpoint. It’d probably even be accurate to say that it’s the passion and hunger that the up-and-coming Philly MC spits with that’s been the biggest reason for his success to date. But, all it takes is one serious look at a good portion of what he has to say, to realize that there’s a lot more going on in his rhymes than he’s often given credit for.
At times, Meek can really use his rough and rugged flows to tell a story in a way that’s rare in this day age – and to be honest – it’s pretty impressive. On his first official studio project, Dreams and Nightmares, he proved that he can paint a vivid picture with words on tracks like “Tramatized” and “Tony Story Pt. 2”, which could very well be some of his best work to date. With that mind, here are the deceptively deep bars – and few fun, but not so insightful lines – that stood out on his newly released debut album.
