Kendrick Lamar is hoping to acquire higher education at some point, but with his music career taking off he has doubts about whether or not he can find the time to focus on college. Lamar also offered some insight into his relationship with his father and explained that his dad started teaching about sex when he was only five.
Lamar explained that he regrets missing out on the college experience and now his focus is on his music. “Not experiencing college, at least for a semester, that was my biggest regret, doing it while I was in my teens, at least to get the feeling and try to understand it. Now, all these years have passed, I done got deep into a musical career, it’s gonna be hard to find the time unless I really put my focus into it,” Kendrick told FUSE..
Kendrick explained that his parents didn’t hold back when it came to discussing sex with their son. “My parents tried to teach me about sex my whole life. My pops would be like, ‘Nigga, you gotta put a rubber on because you’re gonna have a thousand kids and you aren’t gonna be able to support ‘em.’ That’s when I was five years old so you can imagine how vulgar it got as time went on,” said Lamar.
Lamar also spoke about his favorite cartoon character, Bugs Bunny, and explained that he respects the rascally rabbit’s cleverness. “I would have to say Bugs Bunny… He was clever and witty. He defeated all of his opponents with wit and cleverness,” said Lamar.
