Pusha T reveals some interesting facts about the upcoming G.O.O.D. Music ‘Cruel Summer’ album including the fact that the entire album was recording in hotel rooms.
As we quickly approach the official release date of the G.O.O.D. Music compilation album ‘Cruel Summer’ details are still rather sparse on the project, and Pusha T reveals why in an interview with the folks from Rolling Stone.
“I’ve done about 20 verses, but the album’s still a mystery to me because I don’t know what’s made it and what hasn’t,” Pusha T continued, “”It wouldn’t be right if the element of surprise wasn’t there for everybody involved except Kanye,” says Pusha. “That’s his magic, man.”
Most albums these days leak well before the album release date, and Kanye West is doing everything in his power to ensure that this doesn’t happen with his compilation project. Pusha reveals that Kanye would not send emails to collaborators, and the entire project was recorded in hotel rooms.
“In the studio there would be sheets of paper that said, ‘No tweeting, no talking, no emailing, no anything. Do not talk to anybody outside of this studio room.’ Then there happened to be a leak, and I remember Kanye ranting and raving, like, ‘Fuck this! We’re not going to ever work there again! We’re going to work in hotel rooms!'”
Yeezy stayed true to his word, and Pusha outlines exactly what happens when Ye has a beat he wants the Clipse member to spit some verses over.
“‘Ye would call me and be like, ‘Yo, I’ve got this ill beat,'” explains Pusha. “I’d be like, ‘All right, send it to me.’ And he’d say, ‘No, I’m not emailing it.'” Instead Pusha’s manager would have to fly out to pick it up.
The world is anxiously awaiting the arrival of Kanye West and his G.O.O.D. Music crew’s ‘Cruel Summer’ album. The official release date is set for September 4th.
