New York native A$AP Rocky has been co-signed by the folks at GQ as the man who is “calling the style shots in hip hop right now.”
A$AP Rocky has made quite a name for himself over the past few years on the music scene thanks largely in part to the massive success of his 2011 mixtape release ‘LiveLoveA$AP,’ but lately the buzzing emcee has been gaining quite a bit of notoriety for his sense of fashion as well.
In a recent interview with GQ, the popular men’s lifestyle publication has cited A$AP as “calling the style shops in hip hop right now.”
A$AP talks a bit about the source for his fashion inspiration stating, ” “With clothes, I like mixing what different designers do until it becomes a personal expression of how I’m feeling that day. This vest is by Skingraft. It only comes out for a GQ shoot or a hot date with an actress. That’s the bourgeois look. Booj-waaah.”
It turns out that Rocky also happens to be a good friend of famous fashion designer Jeremy Scott, who is most known for his off the wall sense of style.
“[Fashion designer] Jeremy Scott is my boy. We’ll do a shoot and then do lunch. Every time I see him, he has gifts for me. He knows I like weed, so he’ll bring edibles. I’ve also been wearing a lot of Rick Owens. It’s like hard-core jailhouse streetwear with a high-end gothic feel,” A$AP Rocky told GQ in regards to Scott.
